So I've been watching a lot of Sabrina the teenage witch lately, my boyfriend bought me the box set for Christmas and I'd be lying if I said I haven't been binge watching it on my days off. I grew up in the 90's and I kind of cherish that part of my life, I will forever love Pokemon, Buffy the vampire slayer and of course Sabrina the teenage witch. 90's fashion has made it's way back in style and you can find yourself lots of pieces to help you imitate your favourite 90's fictional character. Whether it be Cher Horowitz and her matchy matchy co-ords or Carrie Bradshaw and her tulle skirts.
For me one of my favourite trends bought back from the dead is velvet. There is so much velvet on the selves right now and you can bet when it's dead and buried again that I'll still be wearing it. I bought the top I'm wearing about a year ago from Dorothy Perkins, I found it on a sale rack and although it was 5 sizes too small I just had to have it. It has to be said that one of the best things about velvet is that it stretches, I've fit my size 22 body into all sorts of different sizes over the years!
The beautiful embroidered skirt I'm wearing is from New Look and after seeing Sabrina wear a similar skirt I just had to have it. Wearing an A line skirt is a little bit out of the comfort zone for me, I tend to wear lots of skater skirts out of habit because I've been told they look 'flattering' on a body like mine. Well this is the year that flattering goes out of the window and I'm just going to wear what I like regardless of the rules we're given. I like my body and I like this skirt and that can never be a bad combination.
The last thing I want to talk about is these faux suede boots! Oh my gosh am I in love with these boots. I've been looking for a pair of knee high boots for months and could never find a pair I really liked that fit over my calves and then few days ago I walk into Dorothy Perkins and there they were sitting on a sale rack with £20 off! I couldn't believe my luck when they fit! The material is so soft and stretchy and they feature a little tie at the back so you can make them looser or tighter depending on what you want. They are a dream and I never want to take them off!
So that's my 90's inspired outfit, thank you so much for reading and I hope to have something new for you to read very soon.
